Home care and PSWs in Val Caron

Arranging care in Val Caron

Val Caron is the closest of the Valley communities to the city, so it gets the best of both — Valley scheduling in blocks, but a shorter run than Hanmer or Capreol. Often the easiest Valley address to arrange care for at short notice.

Where this is

One of the communities that made up Valley East, between Blezard Valley and Hanmer, amalgamated into Greater Sudbury in 2001. It sits roughly 7 km from downtown Sudbury in a straight line.

We do not quote drive times, and that is deliberate — between November and April in this part of Ontario a number on a page would be wrong often enough to be worth nothing. What we do instead is confirm a specific caregiver and a specific time before anything is booked.

What a PSW can do

Personal support work covers bathing, dressing, grooming, mobility and transfers, meal preparation, medication reminders, light housekeeping and companionship. A PSW is not a nurse: wound care, injections and anything clinical need a registered nurse, and we will say so rather than stretching the scope. There is more on that distinction in our guide to the difference between a PSW and an RN.

Every caregiver is verified

Police check, PSW credentials confirmed, and references taken before anyone is matched with a family. That applies in Val Caron exactly as it does everywhere else we work — it is not something that relaxes for the outlying communities.
