Home care and PSWs in Valley East
Home care across Valley East — Hanmer, Val Caron, Blezard and the surrounding area.
Arranging care in Valley East
Valley East covers a lot of ground and the addresses are spread out, so the practical advice is the same as for Hanmer: block bookings, arranged ahead. Rural properties should tell us about the driveway in winter — a caregiver who cannot get up it is a visit that does not happen.
Where this is
A town from 1973 and briefly a city from 1998, formed out of the Hanmer, Capreol and Blezard townships before the 2001 amalgamation folded it into Greater Sudbury. It sits roughly 10 km from downtown Sudbury in a straight line.
We do not quote drive times, and that is deliberate — between November and April in this part of Ontario a number on a page would be wrong often enough to be worth nothing. What we do instead is confirm a specific caregiver and a specific time before anything is booked.
What a PSW can do
Personal support work covers bathing, dressing, grooming, mobility and transfers, meal preparation, medication reminders, light housekeeping and companionship. A PSW is not a nurse: wound care, injections and anything clinical need a registered nurse, and we will say so rather than stretching the scope. There is more on that distinction in our guide to the difference between a PSW and an RN.
Every caregiver is verified
Police check, PSW credentials confirmed, and references taken before anyone is matched with a family. That applies in Valley East exactly as it does everywhere else we work — it is not something that relaxes for the outlying communities.
