Common questions
- How much does a PSW cost in Sudbury?
- $25 an hour through CareNearby, with a 3-hour minimum per visit. Private agencies in Ontario typically charge $28–35 an hour, and most will not quote a rate until after a consultation call.
- Is there an agency fee, deposit or sign-up cost?
- No. There is no agency fee, no deposit, no surge pricing and no contract. You pay for the hours booked, in the app.
- Does OHIP pay for a PSW?
- OHIP does not pay for PSW services directly. Ontario Health atHome (formerly HCCSS/CCAC) can arrange subsidised PSW visits for eligible people, but publicly funded hours are rationed — often 2–4 hours a week. Families who need more than that pay privately.
- Can I use CareNearby alongside Ontario Health atHome?
- Yes. Private visits can be booked on top of publicly funded hours to cover the rest of the week.
